The astounding color of this caught my eye when I bought it about 20 years ago. It is from the days (probably 1920's) when there were thousands of new novelty colors coming out of the dyer's vats to tempt dressmakers - and yellows in particular. I cannot even describe the luminosity of this buttery antique yellow. it is not bright, but very intense. The fabric itself has a sheen not unlike polished cotton but it has the feel of silk. perhaps it is silk/cotton. This is Approximately 4' wide and 15' long - alot of yardage, and very wide. It has a French makers mark printed in gold along the edges that reads: "traitement Astral".
